INGREDIENTS
½ cup vegetable oil
1 cup white sugar
3 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
3 eggs
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 tablespoon of anise extract
½ cup chopped almonds

DIRECTIONS
- Heat the oven to 190 degrees Celsius (375 degrees Fahrenheit).
- Line baking trays with baking paper.
- In a small bowl beat the oil, eggs, sugar and anise extract.
- Put the flour and baking powder into a large bowl.
- Add the egg mixture to make a heavy dough.
- Divide the dough into two. Form each piece into a roll (as long as your baking tray).
- Press down to a ½ inch thickness.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden.
- Place on a wire rack to cool.
- When cool enough to touch, slice on the diagonal about ½ inch slices.
- Put the slices cut side up back onto the baking tray and cook. for another 6-10 minutes on each side.
- Slices should be lightly toasted.
- Store in an airtight container.
- Enjoy with coffee!
